A 23-year-old Kent man was killed on Saturday, Sept. 25 in a shooting in the College Hill area of Pullman near the Washington State University campus.<\/p>\n
Liban A. Barre, died in the shooting, according to the Pullman Police Department. Brandon Gray, 22, a WSU student and football player, was injured in the shooting and remained in serious but stable condition, according to police.<\/p>\n
Pullman Police arrested a 23-year-old Pullman man for investigation of second-degree assault in the shooting as detectives continue to try to determine what led to the shooting. Police did not release any possible motive for the shooting.<\/p>\n
Officers responded at about 12:30 a.m. to the 1200 block of NE Myrtle Street for a report of a loud party with possibly 200 people in attendance, according to police. As officers were approaching the scene, they reported hearing multiple gunshots.<\/p>\n
Near the area of Williams Drive and Lybecker Road, they found two men who had multiple gunshot wounds. Officers began immediate life-saving measures on both individuals before Pullman Fire transported the two men to Pullman Regional Hospital. Barre died at the hospital and Gary was transported by Life Flight to a Spokane hospital.<\/p>\n
Barre moved to Pullman just a few weeks ago, according to The Spokesman-Review newspaper in Spokane. He planned to enroll at WSU and become a politician.<\/p>\n
Between 2010 and 2021, Pullman had just one homicide, according to Pullman Police Department’s annual report and The Spokesman-Review.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
