Chilliwack, B.C.- Brendan Rouse had a hat trick Oct. 9 at Prospera Centre in Chilliwack to help lead the Seattle Thunderbirds to a 6-3 victory over the Chilliwack Bruins.<\/p>\n

The line off Mitch Elliot, Colin Jacobs and Tyler Alos combined for seven points in the game. Jacobs had a goal and two assists, Elliot had a goal and an assist and Alos had two assists.<\/p>\n

The T-Birds (4-2-0-0) have now won three games in a row.<\/p>\n

The Bruins took a 1-0 lead at 9:09 of the first period on a power-play goal by Ryan Howse. Brandon Manning and Jesse Pauls had the assists.<\/p>\n

Chilliwack (3-2-0-0) went in front 2-1 at 18:28 of the first on a goal by Roman Horak. Howse and Jeff Einhorn had the assists.<\/p>\n

Chilliwack outshot Seattle 18-4 in the first period.<\/p>\n

Seattle tied the game 2-2 at 2:21 of the second period. Elliot intercepted a Chilliwack pass the neutral zone and then fed Alos who carried the puck into the Bruins zone on the left side. Alos took a hit but was able to get the puck to Jacobs in the left circle. Jacobs quickly centered the puck to Elliot charging down the slot after the play. Elliot beat Gore with a quick snap shot for his second goal of the year.<\/p>\n

The T-Birds took the lead 3-2 at 10:26 of the second on a goal by Jacobs. Alos got the puck to Elliot on the left side. Elliot carried the puck into the Chilliwack zone along the boards and put a shot on goal from the left circle. Gore made the save but Jacobs was at left post. Jacobs slammed the rebound past Gore for his second goal of the year.<\/p>\n

The Bruins led in shots, 24-16, after two periods.<\/p>\n

Rouse put the T-Birds in front 4-2 at 3:10 of the third period. Rouse put a shot on Gore from the right circle that the goalie stopped. The puck came right back to Rouse and he beat Gore low for his second goal of the game. Doty and Charles Wells had the assists on the goal.<\/p>\n

Rouse completed the hat trick at 9:38 of the third with a power-play goal. Brenden Dillon had the puck in the right circle. He crossed the puck to Burke Gallimore in the left circle. Gallimore one-timed Dillon’s pass and the puck rebounded off Gore to Rouse in the slot. Rouse snapped the puck past Gore for his first WHL hat trick.<\/p>\n

Horak cut the T-Birds lead to two goals with a 5-on-3 power-play goal at 15:24 of the third. Howse and Pauls had the assists.<\/p>\n

Travis Toomey scored an empty-net goal at 16:25 of the third to seal the win for the T-Birds. Chilliwack pulled Gore while on a power-play to get a two-man advantage. Toomey fired the puck the length of the ice to put the T-Birds back in front by three goals.<\/p>\n

Seattle outshot Chilliwack 12-8 in the third period but the Bruins finished the game with a 32-28 advantage in shots.<\/p>\n

Seattle goalie Calvin Pickard made 29 saves on 32 shots and his record is now 4-2-0-0.<\/p>\n

Gore made 22 saves on 27 shots and his record is now 2-2-0-0.<\/p>\n

The T-Birds next game is Oct. 15, against the Vancouver Giants at Pacific Coliseum at 7:30 p.m. The T-Birds then take on the Calgary Hitmen on Oct. 16, at 7:05 p.m. at ShoWare Center.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
