{"id":51651,"date":"2021-09-10T16:33:00","date_gmt":"2021-09-10T23:33:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/sports\/kentridge-high-cancels-football-game-due-to-covid-19\/"},"modified":"2021-09-10T16:33:00","modified_gmt":"2021-09-10T23:33:00","slug":"kentridge-high-cancels-football-game-due-to-covid-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/sports\/kentridge-high-cancels-football-game-due-to-covid-19\/","title":{"rendered":"Kentridge High cancels football game due to COVID-19"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Kentridge High School football team canceled a game Thursday, Sept. 9 against Liberty (of Renton) at French Field in Kent due to COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The Kentridge football team had a positive COVID case reported this week,&rdquo; said Kent School District spokesperson Melissa Laramie in a Sept. 10 email. &ldquo;After reviewing the close contacts with this individual, we have decided that the team did not have the numbers to field a team to play safely.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Laramie said the district continues to work with the state Department of Health and follow the directives in response to any positive cases.<\/p>\n<p>Laramie said she did not know of any other Kent sports teams that have had to cancel games.<\/p>\n<p>Kentridge opened the season Sept. 3 with a 46-14 loss to Auburn Mountainview.
