The city of Kent will offer two cooling centers on Thursday and Friday, Aug. 12-13, when temperatures are predicted to hit 97 and 96 degrees with lows of 69 degrees, according to the National Weather <\/a>Service<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Kent Commons Community Center, 525 Fourth Ave. N., will be open from noon to 5 p.m. both days. The Kent Public Library, 212 Second Ave. N., will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.<\/p>\n

High temperatures are predicted to be 92 on Saturday and 83 on Sunday.<\/p>\n

An excessive heat watch has been issued by the National Weather Service and remains in effect from Wednesday afternoon through Saturday evening. The impacts include extreme heat and humidity will significantly increase the potential for heat related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities.<\/p>\n

Nighttime relief Thursday, Friday and Saturday morning will be poor across Eastern Puget Sound, the adjacent Cascade foothills and in the Seattle metro area away from the water. Overnight lows will only briefly drop into the mid to upper 60s.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
