{"id":50220,"date":"2021-06-16T13:05:00","date_gmt":"2021-06-16T20:05:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/sports\/thunderbirds-home-opener-in-kent-set-for-oct-9-against-portland\/"},"modified":"2021-06-16T13:08:27","modified_gmt":"2021-06-16T20:08:27","slug":"thunderbirds-home-opener-in-kent-set-for-oct-9-against-portland","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/sports\/thunderbirds-home-opener-in-kent-set-for-oct-9-against-portland\/","title":{"rendered":"Thunderbirds home opener in Kent set for Oct. 9 against Portland"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The home opener for the <a href=\"https:\/\/seattlethunderbirds.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"link\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Seattle Thunderbirds junior hockey team<\/a> will be at 6:05 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 9 against the Portland Winterhawks at the accesso ShoWare Center in Kent.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We are extremely excited that we will be able to welcome the best fans in the WHL (Western Hockey League) back to accesso ShoWare Center,&rdquo; said T-Birds President Colin Campbell in a press release. &ldquo;It has been a long time since we have seen ShoWare loud and rowdy for a T-Birds game and we are looking forward to this game.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Seattle played a shortened 2020-2021 season due to COVID-19 and no fans were allowed at the games.<\/p>\n<p>The T-Birds are offering two free tickets to the home opener to fans who purchase a 20-game flex ticket package before June 30.<\/p>\n<p>For more information, or to order the 20-game package, call the T-Birds at 253-239-7825 or purchase online.<\/p>\n<p>The full 2021-22 regular season schedule will be released on Wednesday, June 23.
