{"id":49547,"date":"2021-04-26T14:29:00","date_gmt":"2021-04-26T21:29:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/news\/kent-landlords-must-give-40-days-notice-to-end-tenant-rental-agreements\/"},"modified":"2021-04-26T14:29:00","modified_gmt":"2021-04-26T21:29:00","slug":"kent-landlords-must-give-40-days-notice-to-end-tenant-rental-agreements","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/news\/kent-landlords-must-give-40-days-notice-to-end-tenant-rental-agreements\/","title":{"rendered":"Kent landlords must give 40 days notice to end tenant rental agreements"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Starting Aug. 1, landlords will be required to give residential tenants in the city of Kent 40 days notice to terminate their rental agreement.<\/p>\n<p>The City Council unanimously approved <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kentwa.gov\/doing-business\/rental-housing-inspection-program\/tenant-rights\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"link\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">an ordinance April 6 to give additional protections to renters<\/a>. The state requirement is 20-days notice.<\/p>\n<p>A violation of this ordinance provides the tenant with an affirmative defense to eviction, according to an April 26 city press release.
