The Kentlake High girls swim team delivered another good day in the pool at Rogers High in Puyallup Oct. 29-30, grabbing a third-place finish in the Class 4A West Central District.<\/p>\n

Mount Rainier, a newcomer to the South Puget Sound League North this year, added a district title to the league championship it won at the meet the week before. The Rams tallied 160.5 points while Thomas Jefferson finished a distant second with 138 followed by the Falcons at 136 points. Rounding out the local performances included: Kentridge (9th\/72 points), Kentwood (11th\/66) and Kent-Meridian (15th\/29 points).<\/p>\n

The seven fastest times in each event earned swimmers a spot at the Class 4A state swim and dive championships slated for Nov. 11-13 at the King County Aquatics Center in Federal Way.<\/p>\n

Kentridge continued to impress in the 400-free relay (Emily Shonka, Giuliana Chilczuk, Flannery Allen, Emily Mohr), taking third with a time of 3:46.48. Mohr added a second-place finish in the 50-free, touching out in a state-qualifying time of 24.25 and chipped in another state time in the 100-free, taking third with a time of 53.11. Kent-Meridian\u2019s Joanna Wu, who skipped last week\u2019s meet, didn\u2019t miss a beat, taking second in the 100-free (52.82) and winning the 200-free (1:52.37). Wu will be Kent-Meridian\u2019s lone state representative.<\/p>\n

Kentlake\u2019s Emily Tanasse, a sophomore who has been blazing fast all season, won the 100 yard butterfly, touching the wall in 58.73 seconds. She finished third in the 100 backstroke in an automatic state qualifying time of 1:00.41, about a second and a half faster than her preliminary time.<\/p>\n

Kyndal Phillips finished in third for the Falcons in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:15.06.<\/p>\n

She also finished fourth in the 100 fly.<\/p>\n

Taylor Bouffard took fourth in the 50 free, clocking in at 25.17, an automatic state qualifying time.<\/p>\n

Annie Benoit won the B final of the 500 free with a time of 5:28.16, knocking nearly four seconds off her preliminary time. She will be swimming in that event at state.<\/p>\n

Junior Sarah Dougherty finished fifth in the 100 back.<\/p>\n

Kentlake\u2019s 200 free relay of Phillips, Benoit, Abby Swanson and Bouffard finished fifth. The Falcons 400-free relay finished fourth with Tanasse kicking it off, Swanson swimming the second leg, Benoit the third with Dougherty the anchor.<\/p>\n

Kati Stanford, Kentlake\u2019s head coach, said in an e-mail that Phillips will swim in the 200 IM and the 100 fly at state as will Tanasse who will also swim in the 100 back and Bouffard will swim in the 50 free.<\/p>\n

All of the girls who swam at districts for Kentlake will be available to swim on of the Falcons three relay teams, including Nichole Reitz, Mekena Eha and Danielle Brooks.<\/p>\n

Leading the way for Kentwood was Marissa Dyrdahl, who touched out in the 200 free final with a time of 2:05.2 seconds. Teammate Natalie Lesnick swam it in 2:01.74 in the B final.<\/p>\n

Dyrdahl also finished sixth in the A final of the 100 free, stopping the clock at 56.59.<\/p>\n

Lesnick finished fifth in the 500 free with a time of 5:30.62.<\/p>\n

The Conquerors 400 free relay team won the B final and took the seventh spot overall with Lesnick swimming first, Erica Wright swimming second, Paige Morris third and Dyrdahl the anchor.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
