Foster Farms recently donated 12,000 pounds of Thanksgiving turkey to the Northwest Harvest food bank warehouse in Kent.

The delivery on Nov. 3 included more than 1,000 turkeys that will be distributed to Northwest Harvest partner agencies to help feed 15,000 people this Thanksgiving. The warehouse is at 22220 W. Valley Highway.

Family owned Foster Farms, based in California, stepped up its COVID-19 hunger relief efforts, increasing its number of donated Thanksgiving turkeys by close to 60 percent over last year to help meet the staggering need for food assistance, according to a Foster Farms news release.

As a result of COVID-19, the number of Washingtonians who cannot put food on their tables has more than doubled. Northwest Harvest is Washington’s leading hunger relief agency – supporting a statewide network of 375 food banks, meal programs and high-need schools.

The Thanksgiving turkey donations are an annual tradition that Foster Farms began in 2008. Foster Farms delivered turkeys this month to West Coast food banks from San Diego to Seattle. The 96,000 pounds of donated turkey will help feed more than 120,000 individuals struggling with food insecurity.
