Gene Reynolds, 87, passed away at his<\/p>\n
home in Puyallup, WA on October 15 a er<\/p>\n
a two-year battle with cancer.<\/p>\n
Gene was born in Dewey County, South<\/p>\n
Dakota, and his family moved to the Seattle<\/p>\n
area when he was a small child. A er initially<\/p>\n
settling in Seattle, they moved to Kent<\/p>\n
and Gene graduated from Kent High School<\/p>\n
in 1950. Out of high school Gene was employed<\/p>\n
by e Boeing Company, le to<\/p>\n
spend 4 years as an aircra mechanic in the<\/p>\n
US Air Force (1951 – 1955), and then went<\/p>\n
back to Boeing until his retirement. Upon<\/p>\n
discharge from the Air Force, Gene met<\/p>\n
Amy Boley, and they married in 1957. ey<\/p>\n
initially lived in South Seattle but moved<\/p>\n
to Kent where they raised their family on<\/p>\n
Kent’s Scenic Hill.<\/p>\n
Gene spent his entire working career at Boeing, retiring a er<\/p>\n
42 years. Unfortunately his wife passed away shortly a er retirement,<\/p>\n
but Gene was lucky to have found new friends and a 1931<\/p>\n
Model-A he named Susie and spent much time in his later years<\/p>\n
tinkering with Susie and hanging out with fellow members of<\/p>\n
the Galloping Gerties Model-A Club of Tacoma.<\/p>\n
Gene had a lifelong love of music, and enjoyed<\/p>\n
going to live music events including<\/p>\n
musical theater at various regional theater<\/p>\n
companies and concert halls. He encouraged<\/p>\n
his grandchildren to play musical instruments<\/p>\n
and participate in the arts and<\/p>\n
enjoyed watching them perform in concerts<\/p>\n
and plays.<\/p>\n
Gene also enjoyed spending as much<\/p>\n
time as possible outdoors, working in his<\/p>\n
proli c vegetable garden and beautifully<\/p>\n
landscaped yard. Until a year ago he was<\/p>\n
still camping with friends and family each<\/p>\n
year.<\/p>\n
A er his cancer diagnosis in 2018, Gene<\/p>\n
sold his Mt. Rainier-view home in Orting<\/p>\n
and moved into an assisted living facility in<\/p>\n
Puyallup where he resided until his passing.<\/p>\n
Gene is survived by three loving children, Laura (Ron) Hartliep,<\/p>\n
John (Gina) Reynolds and Pam Reynolds. Gene also has<\/p>\n
4 grandchildren – Bobbi, Eric, Hayden and Ollie and 4 great<\/p>\n
grandchildren.<\/p>\n
