{"id":47572,"date":"2020-10-09T15:04:00","date_gmt":"2020-10-09T22:04:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/news\/new-kent-school-district-elementary-school-on-the-rise\/"},"modified":"2020-10-09T15:16:55","modified_gmt":"2020-10-09T22:16:55","slug":"new-kent-school-district-elementary-school-on-the-rise","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/news\/new-kent-school-district-elementary-school-on-the-rise\/","title":{"rendered":"New Kent School District elementary school on the rise"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Crews continued to work this week on the Kent School District&rsquo;s new elementary school under construction at 22420 Military Road S., on the West Hill.<\/p>\n<p>Voters approved a bond measure in 2016 to pay for the new school, which will cost an estimated $58.2 million, according to district officials. The school is going up at the former site of Kent Mountain View Academy. It is scheduled to open in fall 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Kent Mountain View moved to a temporary location that it shares with Kent Phoenix Academy, 11000 SE 264th St. Both of those academies will move next fall to a $43.8 million school under construction at the southwest corner of 108th Avenue Southeast and Southeast 208th Street, the site of the former Panther Lake Elementary.<\/p>\n<p>Crews demolished the former Kent Mountain View and Panther Lake buildings in 2019 to prepare the sites for the new schools. Kent Mountain View occupied the 50-year-old campus for 20 years that was previously the site of a military base. Kent Mountain View is a choice school option in the district for students in grades 3-12.
