A man was killed after lying down on the BNSF Railway tracks in Kent Thursday afternoon and was hit by a Sounder commuter train headed southbound into Kent.<\/p>\n

Officers were dispatched at about 4:20 p.m. to a report of a train vs. pedestrian collision in the area of South 212th Street and 77th Avenue South,<\/a> according to Kent Police. Officers spoke with the train conductor who said a male lying down on the tracks and did not move when the conductor activated the train’s emergency whistles and horns. The conductor also activated the train’s emergency brakes but could not stop in time.<\/p>\n

Officers found the man deceased near the tracks.<\/p>\n

Sound Transit temporarily suspended Sounder train service because of the fatality.<\/p>\n

On Oct. 4, a 51-year-old Federal Way woman was killed when her car collided with a freight train train in Auburn. The collision occurred about 11 p.m. near the intersection of West Main and H streets, according to the Valley Regional Fire Authority.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
