A sampling of Kent Police incidents from July 14-26:<\/p>\n
July 14<\/p>\n
Stolen vehicle<\/strong>: 12:17 p.m., patrol engaged in a pursuit of a stolen vehicle. Coordinated efforts yielded successful stop with stick deployment. The vehicle continued onto the shoulder of Highway 167 southbound from South 212th Street and was disabled from the stop sticks and clipping a semi. The driver fled on foot and was apprehend by a K-9 unit.<\/p>\n Shots fired<\/strong>: 3:02 p.m., report of shots fired between vehicles in the area of Target. Involved victims claimed they were robbed of a Glock when selling a cellphone. The victims were uncooperative in what officers believe was a gun deal gone badly.<\/p>\n Known fighter<\/strong>: 11:45 p.m., a subject was lying in the middle of the street and once officers arrived he approached in a fighting stance. This subject is known for fighting police. Officers calmed the subject and he was restrained without incident. He was subsequently involuntarily committed.<\/p>\n July 15 <\/p>\n Car prowl shooting<\/strong>: 11:29 p.m., a car prowl resulted in the suspect(s) shooting at the victims. Neither victim was hit. Two suspects that fit the description were located in the area. Both are also suspects in an armed robbery. Both were released to parental guardians because they did not meet juvenile detention booking requirements. Case referred to detectives.<\/p>\n July 17<\/p>\n Money demanded<\/strong>: 9:18 p.m., a victim was conducting an Offer-up deal to buy a PS4 gaming system. He arranged with the buyer to meet in front of the leasing office at The Pines at Canyon Station Apartments. Two suspects arrived and during the contact produced a handgun and demanded his money. The victim pulled away and drove to the Shell station at 1200 Central Ave. N and called police. No loss of money.<\/p>\n July 18<\/p>\n Pedestrian struck<\/strong>: 2:34 a.m., patrol responded to a car versus pedestrian in the 24500 block of 104th Ave. SE. The driver was headed south on 104th Ave. SE when the vehicle in front of him swerved to avoid a woman in the street, but he was unable to avoid colliding with her. He was cooperative and remained on scene, later arrested for DUI. At this time the victim has not been identified.<\/p>\n July 19<\/p>\n Trespassed again<\/strong>: 10:54 p.m., a suspect was contacted by management and trespassed from Safeway at 13101 SE Kent Kangley Road for concealing several items. The suspect stated to the manager that he would return regardless of the trespass advisement. Several hours later the suspect returned and was warned to leave the store, and again he advised he would return. The suspect returned and was seen concealing merchandise. The manager confronted him and began to call the police. He was assaulted and choked by the suspect, causing minor injury. Officers arrived and took the suspect into custody.<\/p>\n July 20<\/p>\n Burglary arrest<\/strong>: 4:20 a.m., the Midas muffler owner arrived at work, at 24242 104th Ave. SE, to see a suspect entering into the business, so he called police. The suspect evaded the owner and left the shop via a different door. Officers contacted and detained a subject walking on 104th Ave. SE. During the investigation it was discovered the power to the business had been disabled, which matched several other commercial burglaries in the city. Officers conducted an in-field lineup and the suspect was positively identified and arrested. Case is under investigation due to possible series.<\/p>\n July 22<\/p>\n City jail incident<\/strong>: 10:32 a.m., a City of Kent Correctional Facility inmate attempted suicide by hanging, using his clothing. Correction officers performed CPR and medics stabilized the inmate for transport to Harborview in Seattle. The Valley Independent Investigation team responded to conduct an investigation of the circumstances.<\/p>\n July 25<\/p>\n Bear spray<\/strong>: 6:39 a.m., Safeway on Washington Avenue. Loss prevention personnel was attempting to retrieve stolen items from a female as she pulled out pepper spray and sprayed them. She got into a vehicle being driven by another person and fled. Officers researched the vehicle’s registration and discovered that the possible suspect was a suspect in a theft of bear spray on May 11 in a Puyallup PD case.<\/p>\n July 26<\/p>\n Bullets fired<\/strong>: 6:18 p.m., officers responded to shots fired at Arterra Townhomes. Several people were contacted and described 1 or 2 suspects walking through the area, and shots were fired. The bullets hit some apartments but no injuries. 45, 40 and 9mm casings were recovered.
