Several Kent Police officers gathered on Wednesday along Kent Des Moines Road (State Route 516) to recognize Officer Diego Moreno on the two-year anniversary of his line-of-duty death.

“He was the kind of guy that everyone wanted to work with, and the type of officer that every community member wanted to show up at their door,” according to a Kent Police Facebook post on Wednesday. “Diego’s love for people, his antics, and his passion for others has inspired so many in our department and our community. To say that his absence is still felt everyday, is an understatement.

“Please take a moment today to remember Diego, and perhaps commit an act of kindness in his honor. Thank you.”

Moreno, of Auburn, died just five days after turning 35. His survivors include his wife, two young children, his mother, his brother and two sisters. He worked eight years as a Kent Police officer.
