A male was shot and injured after a reported robbery attempt at about 8:50 p.m. Tuesday while walking in the 800 block of Central Avenue North near Kent Memorial Park.

It was the third shooting in five days in Kent. Six were injured Monday on the West Hill along Pacific Highway South near Kent Des Moines Road and two were injured last Friday in a parking lot next to a hookah bar along Washington Avenue South near the Safeway store. Kent Police are looking for suspects in all three cases. Police said the incident along Pacific Highway did not appear to be a random shooting.

Officers found a male with a gunshot wound to his lower extremities near Kent Memorial Park, according to a Kent Police post on Facebook. Paramedics transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle in serious condition. Police did not release the age of the male.

A witness, who was with the victim, said two males with bandanas on their faces walked up behind them and demanded money and other items from the pair, who took off running. They then heard gunshots and one realized he had been shot. Both suspects fled on foot to the north. An area search by a K-9 unit and the King County Sheriff’s Office Guardian 1 helicopter did not locate the suspects.

Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to call the tip line at 253-856-5808.
