The Kent Fire Department Regional Fire Authority\u2019s newest Fire District 37 commissioner and board member was sworn in at Wednesday night\u2019s meeting.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Harry George Sr. joins the Kent Fire Department RFA after being elected last fall. He replaces Pat Riordan, who retired at the end of 2013 after many years of dedication to the community.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
In addition to the swearing in of George, several annual awards were presented.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
\u2022 Officer of the Year \u2013 Capt. Chris Martin<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
\u2022 Firefighter of the Year \u2013 Brian Schoonhoven<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
\u2022 Employee of the Year \u2013 Bill Johnson (presented at an earlier event)<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
\u2022 Distinguished Service \u2013 Firefighter Kevin O\u2019Keefe<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
All of the awards are nominated and voted on by the members of the Kent Fire Department RFA.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Kent Fire Department RFA board meetings are at 5:30 p.m. the first and third Wednesday of each month. All meetings are open to the public. Unless otherwise noted, meetings are at Fire Station 78, 17820 SE 256th St., in Covington.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
