Two nonprofit groups that work to provide African and African American parents with the tools, skills and resources to support their children, invite the community to attend a Zoom presentation at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 16, about marijuana prevention and education by Youth Too Dope To Vape.

Seven African youth from Liberia, Nigeria and Sudan, ages 11-17, participated in the survey within South King County supported by Mission Africa, of Auburn, and First Five Years & Beyond, of Kent, according to a press release from the two nonprofits. The team will present to African community leaders their neighborhood density survey of youth exposure to marijuana, vapor and glass shop products. The team will also highlight some effects of marijuana use on youth health and behavior.

The team conducted their neighborhood density survey in the Kent Kangley neighborhood in the city of Kent. This team was formed by and is sponsored by First Five Years & Beyond and Rainier Valley Corps through partnership with Mission Africa. Funding and support for this project comes through a $9,999 grant from Public Health – Seattle & King County.
