Green River Trail and Interurban Trail in Kent as well as all other King County regional trails are closed except for people considered part of the essential workforce who use the trails to commute to work or to accomplish essential tasks.

Grocery store employees or others still working, people going to doctors appointments or other essential trips, are allowed to use the trails, according to King County Parks. Individuals who use trails for these purposes should follow social distancing guidelines and the standard trail rules and etiquette.

King County had kept the regional trails open initially, but closed them April 3 as part of Gov. Jay Inslee’s stay home, stay healthy order. Non-essential use of the regional trail system remains closed as part of the ongoing efforts to protect public health and curb transmission of COVID-19.

“We ask that everyone respect parks closures and refrain from using King County parks, including regional and backcountry trails,” according to the county notice. “We are unable to physically block off all entrances to parks and trails. We appreciate our park users helping us slow the spread of this virus and their patience as we work through this challenging time. King County also urges visitors to not park illegally on roadways near parks and trails, or block park gates.”
