Kent city officials have closed City Hall, the Police Department and other facilities to the public as well as directed most employees to work remotely because of the coronavirus.<\/p>\n

The city posted the following message Monday afternoon on Facebook:<\/p>\n

Effectively immediately we have taken the following actions:<\/p>\n

• We have closed City Hall, Centennial Center, the Police Department, the Shops, the Senior Center and Kent Commons and the Municipal Court to the public. The city clerk’s office, finance customer service and permit center will be open on Tuesday and Thursday by appointment only. Go to kentwa.gov<\/a> for contact information<\/p>\n

• Most city employees are being directed to work remotely<\/p>\n

• We have cancelled all board and commission meetings<\/p>\n

• We have cancelled the City Council workshop for Tuesday, March 17, and are moving future Council’s Committee of the Whole meetings to a phone meeting<\/p>\n

• We are encouraging residents to not attend the council meeting on Tuesday, March 17, and instead submit public comment to citycouncil@kentwa.gov<\/p>\n

• We have cancelled all city related travel and training<\/p>\n

• Bars and dining establishments will remain closed but many are open for take out and delivery and we encourage residents to support our local small businesses<\/p>\n
