The Kent Senior Activity Center<\/a> and the Kent Arts Commission <\/a>are hosting the fourth annual Evening of Jazz & Art <\/a>5-8 p.m., Thursday, June 23 at 600 E. Smith Street in downtown Kent.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Families of all ages are encouraged to attend.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Doors open at 5 p.m. when boxed dinners, compliments of Stafford Suites, will be distributed on a first come, first served basis. The Kent Valley Artists\u2019 exhibition and demonstration begins at 5 p.m. and is open for the duration of the event.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Jazz pianist Richard Dean plays indoors (5-5:15 p.m. and 6:15 to 7 p.m.) while outdoor concerts feature blues\/jazz vocalist & bassist Little Bill & the Blue Notes (5:15 to 6:15 p.m.) and jazz guitarist Michael Powers (7 to 8 p.m.). Limited indoor concert seating is available; guests are asked to bring blankets, lawn chairs and umbrellas for outdoor seating.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n A special commemoration will be held between grandstand concerts from 6:15 to 7 p.m. when a brief DVD highlighting the Kent Senior Activity Center building\u2019s 25th anniversary will be shown in a continuous loop on the indoor large screen. Guests may enjoy boxed desserts compliments of Stafford Suites (while supplies last) and share a toast in the special \u201cMocktail Garden\u201d on the patio (donations accepted).<\/p>\n<\/p>\n This ticketless event is offered free of charge due to a grant from the Kent Arts Commission and co-sponsorships from Stafford Suites, Chateau @ Valley Center, SHAG Housing, Talbot Rehab and The Weatherly Inn.
