Kent Police arrested a man for investigation of malicious mischief after he fell through the roof of a house onto a porch.

The man told officers that he didn’t know anyone who lived in the home in the 300 block of Alder Lane and he was “only looking for a place to sleep,” according to the police report.

The incident started at about 6:29 p.m. April 1 when a witness called 911 to report a man trying to get into a Jeep parked and unoccupied in the 1300 block of South Central Avenue. The witness said the man became frustrated when the doors wouldn’t open.

Officers responded to the call and saw the man trying to open doors at a house along Alder Lane. Police eventually caught the man in the yard of the home.

Police asked the man if had been using meth and he said he was coming down from a high. When asked why he tried to break into the vehicle, the man said he did it so he could sleep in the Jeep. Officers than asked him if he knew it was illegal to enter a vehicle that wasn’t his.

“Yeah, I know, so what,” the man said.

Obstructing

Officers arrested a man for investigation of obstructing a public officer after he reportedly ran from police at about 12:43 a.m. March 30 in the 200 block of West Crowe Street.

A 911 caller reported that a man refused to leave a location and was associated with a white station wagon, according to the police report.

An officer saw the car and activated his emergency lights after the driver ran a stop sign. The vehicle headed northbound on Second Avenue South at a high rate of speed, turned eastbound on West Saar Street and then onto First Avenue South where it parked just north of Willis Street.

Police watched the driver get out of the car and start to walk away. An officer yelled at the man to stop, but he kept walking. Another officer who responded to the chase stopped the man near Willis Street and Railroad Avenue South.

Officers found out the man had taken the car from his girlfriend at the West Crowe address. The woman came to the location where police had the man and took the car back.

Assault

Officers arrested a man for investigation of fourth-degree assault after he reportedly put a chokehold on his girlfriend during a dispute at about 1 a.m. March 29 inside a recreational vehicle parked at a self storage complex in the 8800 block of South 228th Street.

Witnesses called 911 to report a man and a woman arguing inside an RV, according to the police report.

The woman said she had dated the man for about three months. She said he called her and begged her to come over for a visit because he feared she would leave him.

The girlfriend showed up and saw the man drinking whiskey. She told police the man gets mean when he drinks, so she took the bottle from him and dumped out the contents.

That made the man mad, so he placed the woman in a headlock. The man denied to officers that he touched the woman. He said it did upset him when she poured out the whiskey.

Officers noted that the woman had redness on her neck that they suspected came from the boyfriend grabbing her.

Theft

Police arrested a man in a motorized cart for investigation of third-degree theft after he allegedly took more than $500 worth of items without paying for them at about 7:28 p.m. March 29 at the Fred Meyer store at 25250 Pacific Highway S.

A loss prevention officer at the store watched the man start in the produce aisle and place fruit in his cart, according to the police report. The man continued around the store and added more and more items.

The man then sent off security alarms when he rolled his cart through the exit doors. He told police he had no plans to pay for the items.

Kent Police arrested a man for investigation of malicious mischief after he fell through the roof of a house onto a porch.

[4
["post-4434","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news
