Kent’s Willie Gomez remained unbeaten in pro boxing circles with his latest conquest, a unanimous decision against Abdul Kamara, of Vancouver, Wash., in a four-round junior welterweight fight at the Legends Casino Hotel in Toppenish on Jan. 30.

Gomez, 18, a senior at Kent-Meridian High School, is 4-0 with two knockouts in his pro career. Kamara is 1-2.

Roy Jones Jr. Boxing Promotions presented the boxing card.

Gomezz dropped Kamara with an overhand right jab in the first round. He took command of the next three rounds, staggering his opponent with a left hook in the third and a left uppercut in the fourth.

All three judges scored the fight, 40-35 for Gomez.

Gomez is off to good start since turning pro last year.

He delivered a first-round knockout against Montana’s Steven Hellman in a junior welterweight bout at the Fight Night, Fright Night Brawl Series 8 presented by PNW Boxing Promotions on Oct. 26 at Green River College.

He captured a four-round majority decision against Hamilton Ash in a welterweight bout at the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma on Sept. 7.

Gomez thrilled the crowd, earning Fighter of the Night honors, by stopping Milwaukie, Ore.’s Ian King in just over one minute in his pro debut between 138-pounders at the Clackamas (Ore.) Armory on Aug. 3.

Gomez, who has had more than 50 amateur fights, trains under Keith Weir at the White Center PAL (Police Activities League) Gym in Seattle.
