{"id":43367,"date":"2019-12-02T12:20:00","date_gmt":"2019-12-02T20:20:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/news\/kent-firefighters-kick-off-toys-for-joy-program\/"},"modified":"2019-12-02T12:35:57","modified_gmt":"2019-12-02T20:35:57","slug":"kent-firefighters-kick-off-toys-for-joy-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/news\/kent-firefighters-kick-off-toys-for-joy-program\/","title":{"rendered":"Kent firefighters kick off Toys for Joy program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It&rsquo;s time once again for the annual Toys for Joy program by Kent firefighters.<\/p>\n<p>The Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority, Kent Firefighters Local 1747 and the Kent Firefighters Foundation will collect, sort, wrap and deliver new, unwrapped toys to needy families in the community, including at the Kent Food Bank, Maple Valley Food Bank and the SeaTac Holiday of Hope program. In addition to toys, non-perishable food and monetary donations also are accepted.<\/p>\n<p>People can drop off toys for children up to 12 years old at any Kent, Covington, SeaTac or Maple Valley fire station. For a list of fire stations, go to<a href=\"https:\/\/pugetsoundfire.org\/about\/fire-station-locations\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"stations\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> pugetsoundfire.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Volunteers are needed for two gift-wrapping parties to prepare the toys for delivery to local food banks. The parties are at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 11 and Thursday, Dec. 19, at Fire Station 75, 15635 SE 272nd St., in Kent.<\/p>\n<p>Call 253-856-4485 for more information about the Toys for Joy Program.<\/p>\n<p>Puget Sound Fire also supports the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.holidayengine.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"link\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jerry Woods Holiday Engine <\/a>&#8211; a longtime Maple Valley tradition.
