The pedestrian struck and killed by an Amtrak train on Friday night has been identified as a 19-year-old woman from Bonney Lake.

Mattelynn Parkhill died from multiple blunt force injury, according to a media report Monday by the King County Medical Examiner’s Office. Parkhill was killed on the BNSF Railway tracks at about 7:45 p.m. between West Willis Street and South 259th Street, according to Kent Police and Puget Sound Fire.

“At this time it appears to be a suicide,” said Kent Police Cmdr. Robert Hollis in a Monday email. “She stepped into the path of the train.”

Parkhill is the third person to be killed by a train in Kent in the last three months on the BNSF tracks. A 20-year-old Seattle man was hit by a Sounder (Sound Transit) train on July 23 near South 212th Street. A 55-year-old SeaTac man was struck by an Amtrak train July 24 near West Willis Street. Both incidents were considered suicides by police based on witness accounts.
