Payton Mount had a hat trick to lead the Seattle Thunderbirds to a 6-1 victory over the Tri-City Americans at the Red Lion Hotels’ Preseason Tournament in Kennewick on Friday night.<\/p>\n
The T-Birds will play the Portland Winterhawks at 3 p.m. Saturday in their second and final game at the tournament.<\/p>\n
Conner Bruggen-Cate had two goals and Michael Horon and Conner Roulette each had three assists in the game.<\/p>\n
The T-Birds had a 2-0 lead after one period on goals from Kai Uchacz and Mount.<\/p>\n
Uchacz scored at 7:55 on assists from Cade McNelly and Tyler Carpendale.<\/p>\n
Mount converted on the power play at 18:25 on assists from Horon and Roulette.<\/p>\n
Bruggen-Cate scored at 8:55 of the second with Horon and Jared Davidson getting the assists.<\/p>\n
Tri-City got on the board when David Homola scored at 11:34 of the second.<\/p>\n
The Americans were called for a checking from behind major late in the second period, giving the T-Birds a five-minute power play.<\/p>\n
Mount scored his second of the game at 18:40 on assists from Horon and Roulette. Mount got the hat trick with one second left in the second period on assists from Andrej Kukuca and Roulette.<\/p>\n
Bruggen-Cate scored on the power play at 6:27 of the third period. Davidson and Keltie Jeri-Leon had the assists.<\/p>\n
Seattle goalie Thomas Milic had 21 saves on 22 shots.<\/p>\n
The T-Birds wrap up preseason play with a home game against the Everett Silvertips at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10 at the accesso ShoWare Center.<\/p>\n
