A driver of a pickup truck struck and killed a pedestrian late Friday night, Kent Police reported.<\/p>\n

The collision killed a 37-year-old Seattle man, police said. The driver, a 53-year-old Kent man, remained on the scene following the collision, exhibited signs of impairment and was arrested for DUI, police reported.<\/p>\n

Police were dispatched at 10:43 p.m. to a report of a fatal collision involving a pickup truck and a pedestrian in the area of Lake Fenwick Road South and Reith Road<\/a>. Dispatchers received 911 calls that indicated that the pedestrian was in the roadway unconscious and not breathing.<\/p>\n

Police officers arrived within two minutes, confirming the man was unconscious and without a pulse. Despite life-saving measures, immediately by police and followed by Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority and King County Medic personnel, the man was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:57 p.m., Kent Police reported.<\/p>\n

Kent Police Traffic Investigators were called out to inspect the incident. Initial information indicates that the victim was crossing Reith Road, just west of Lake Fenwick Road. The driver was traveling eastbound in his pickup truck on Reith Road and struck the man in the roadway, police said <\/p>\n

The man crossed the roadway just west of the intersection, not in a crosswalk, and was wearing dark clothing at the time of the collision, police said. The location of the collision is on a curve near the base of a steep hill.<\/p>\n
