Sam Zisette has re-signed with the Kent-based Tacoma Stars.<\/p>\n
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.<\/p>\n
The defender\/midfielder, a Seattle native and University of Puget Sound alum, made his Major Arena Soccer League debut last season for Tacoma.<\/p>\n
Zisette, who is an assistant coach for the Loggers at UPS, picked up an assist in his first game as a Star in Tacoma’s 6-4 win in Turlock on Feb. 22. His first goal came at the accesso ShoWare Center on March 1 when Tacoma trounced El Paso 11-6.<\/p>\n
During his college career, Zisette made 10 starts and appeared in every game as a freshman en route to finishing second on the team in goals scored. As a sophomore he started 18 matches and led the team in assists. He also appeared in two NCAA tournament matches for the Loggers, picking up a hat trick in the tournament opener.<\/p>\n
Zisette graduated from UPS in 2015 with a degree in exercise science.<\/p>\n
“Sam is a young, exciting player we think can have a long future with the Stars organization,” said coach Nick Perera. “He’s a hard working, enthusiastic player who brings a lot of energy to everything he does. It’s important to the longevity and growth of the organization that we keep young talent like him around for years to come.”<\/p>\n
On the pitch<\/strong><\/p>\n There will be two September friendlies for the Stars as they prepare for the regular season. The team plays the Tacoma Stars Reserves and Tacoma Narrows FC at the Tacoma Soccer Center on Sept. 14 and 21, respectively. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. for both games.<\/p>\n The Stars’ home opener is at 7:05 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30.<\/p>\n
