Workers in the Kent Valley can participate in an online survey to help city officials decide how to make life better in the industrial area through potential changes in transportation, amenities, etc.

The survey is part of the city’s Rally the Valley initiative to make the industrial area more attractive to companies and employees. City staff from the Economic and Community Development Department put together the survey at kentwa.gov.

“This quick 5-10 minute survey will help the city find ways to improve your day-to-day experience in the Kent Industrial Valley,” according to the city’s website. “By giving a few minutes of your time, and sharing a bit of your creativity, you can help shape the future of the Kent Industrial Valley.”

The survey is available in eight languages. The survey closes Aug. 31.

City of Kent staff and leaders first talked publicly about changing up the industrial valley during a council workshop last September. They want to transform the valley into a place where companies choose to set up headquarters and production plants rather than more warehouses and distribution centers.

The council in April unanimously approved an interim land-use zoning ordinance to limit any new large warehouses. City leaders are looking to more of an aerospace center or similar industries that bring in more tax revenue and fewer trucks that quickly wear out the roads.
