Kent Police arrested a 16-year-old Tukwila boy for investigation of vehicular homicide after he allegedly drove a car head on into another vehicle that resulted in the death of a 13-year-old passenger in his car.

“Through investigation and witness accounts we were able to track down the suspected juvenile driver of the vehicle,” said Kent Police Assistant Chief Jarod Kasner in an email Wednesday.

Police arrested and booked the teen on Tuesday.

Sabrina Ali died from smoke inhalation. She was found by Puget Sound Fire personnel in the backseat of a silver Nissan Altima that collided with a red Mazda Protégé late Sunday night in the 9700 block of Canyon Drive, near Kent-Meridian High School. Police are uncertain if Ali lived in Federal Way with her sister or in Seattle with her mother.

The driver of the Altima and another female passenger fled the scene before police arrived. The Altima caught on fire after the collision. Kasner said police have talked to the other female passenger but have not arrested her. Kasner said all three in the car knew each other, but he didn’t expand on their relationships.

Kasner also didn’t respond to questions about whether the Altima was stolen or who owned the car.

Witnesses assisted a 48-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man from Renton out of the Mazda. Paramedics transported the man and woman to local hospitals. Kasner didn’t provide an update about their conditions.

[9,4
["post-41271","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-home","category-news
