{"id":40455,"date":"2019-05-06T15:23:00","date_gmt":"2019-05-06T22:23:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/life\/kent-ymca-hire-executive-director\/"},"modified":"2019-05-06T15:36:19","modified_gmt":"2019-05-06T22:36:19","slug":"kent-ymca-hire-executive-director","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/life\/kent-ymca-hire-executive-director\/","title":{"rendered":"Kent YMCA hires executive director"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Kent YMCA, opening this fall, has hired Kelly Guy as its executive director.<\/p>\n<p>Guy has more than 15 years of experience in program development and community outreach and will oversee the work and functions of the <a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/iAjvY9hayAfX5Enk6\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"map\">Kent YMCA, 10828 SE 248th St.<\/a> As part of this move, Guy will hold two meet-and-greets at the Kent Y&rsquo;s temporary office, 220 Railroad Ave. N.:<\/p>\n<p>&#8226; Tuesday, May 7 from 4 to 7 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>&#8226; Saturday, May 11 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I am thrilled to have Kelly Guy join as the new executive director for our new Kent location,&rdquo; says Marcia Isenberger, Chief Operating Officer for the YMCA of Greater Seattle, in a press release. &ldquo;She will be Kent&rsquo;s first executive director for our new branch. With her experience and proven leadership, she&rsquo;s the perfect person to meet the needs of the greater Kent community.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Prior to the Y, Guy managed the Edgar &#038; Holli Martinez Foundation Fellowship at the Technology Access Foundation. She also served as a recreation director for Seattle Parks &#038; Recreation and also worked for Casey Family Programs and the City of Seattle&rsquo;s Human Services Department. She hopes to bring connectivity and community to the new Kent Y.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I feel as though this position was made for me,&rdquo; Guy said. &ldquo;Kent is my community and home. I look forward to opening our doors as a place to gather, connect with others, learn healthy habits and take care of each other.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Guy started her new position in March. When not working, Guy enjoys traveling, listening to 80&rsquo;s and 90&rsquo;s R&#038;B and spending time with her niece and nephews.<\/p>\n<p>The new facility will offer community gathering spaces, an aquatic center with lap lanes and swim areas, as well as gym, group fitness and cardio spaces.
