Drivers used to see the Riverbend par 3 golf course when they headed east across the Meeker Street Bridge toward downtown Kent.<\/p>\n

Now they see apartments going up at the site of the former course.<\/p>\n

The Marquee on Meeker Apartments, 2030 W. Meeker St., will feature 492 apartments and 12,000 square feet of retail. The first phase of 288 apartments is expected to be completed in early 2020, including one six-story building, 14 three- story buildings, the clubhouse and public access through the site to the Green River Trail. Units are expected to open up later this year as crews finish work during the first phase.<\/p>\n

The City Council sold the property to a developer for $10.5 million in 2017 to eliminate $4 million in debt at the Riverbend Golf Complex and to reinvest the remaining millions in the 18-hole golf course and driving range. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
