Kent Police arrested a woman for investigation of second-degree assault after she allegedly tried to use her vehicle to run over another woman and pulled a knife during a dispute.

Officers responded at about 7:33 a.m. March 30 to a parking lot in the 24000 block of 111th Place Southeast at the Royal Firs Apartments after 911 calls about an erratic vehicle, according to the police report. Callers indicated that the driver was trying to run over someone.

When police arrived the vehicle had left. But a witness took a photo of the car and had a partial license plate. Officers were able to get an address for the registered owner and found the car parked in the 25400 block of 104th Avenue Southeast. Police found three women near the car, and a witness identified one of them as the driver, who declined to talk to officers. The other two women had felony warrants, including one for robbery, and officers took all three women into custody.

The dispute reportedly began at the ampm store at Southeast 240th Street and 116th Avenue Southeast. A vehicle with at least three women followed a woman and her boyfriend from the store to the apartment complex. While the boyfriend left the scene, the women became involved in a physical dispute, and one woman somehow lost her shirt during the scuffle. She told officers she didn’t know how her top came off.

It was uncertain what led to the dispute. The woman who was threatened with a knife said she might have seen the other women at parties.

Dining without paying

Officers arrested a man for investigation of third-degree theft and possession of drug paraphernalia after he refused to pay for his tab at Shari’s Cafe and Pies, 12990 SE Kent Kangley Road.

An employee called police when three people refused to pay for their food at about 2:58 a.m. March 30, according to the police report. When officers arrived, one man had paid but another man and a woman still had a tab of about $120. Shari’s salvaged some of the food to lower the bill to $70.26.

The man told police he didn’t get paid until midnight so he was still waiting for the money to show up in his bank account. The man tried to pay seven times but each time his card was denied for not enough funds in the account. He then said his girlfriend was going to pay for the food, but she didn’t pay either.

Officers found out the man had a Kent misdemeanor warrant, so they took him into custody. During a search of the man, an officer found a plastic baggie with white crystals inside it in the man’s pants pocket. The crystals later tested positive for meth. Police also cited the woman for theft for failing to pay for her food.

Punched over chores

Police arrested a man for investigation of fourth-degree assault after he allegedly punched another man in the face during a dispute at about 8:02 p.m. March 30 at a home in the 24200 block of 100th Avenue Southeast.

The man apparently became upset that his roommate didn’t do enough chores at the clean and sober house, according to the police report. After arguing, the one man followed the other man into his room, where he reportedly punched him. Officers noted the man had a swollen lip.

Police said the man who threw the punch appeared to be intoxicated. He questioned officers about the reason for his arrest. He claimed the other man hit him, but he had no marks or cuts. Officers discovered the man also had a Bellingham warrant for providing a false statement to police. The man told officers that he was, “not a bad guy.”

[9,4
["post-40067","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-home","category-news
