{"id":3987,"date":"2012-10-09T11:20:01","date_gmt":"2012-10-09T18:20:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spiken.wpengine.com\/news\/adopt-cats-six-months-and-older-in-kent-for-free-this-month\/"},"modified":"2016-10-23T10:00:35","modified_gmt":"2016-10-23T17:00:35","slug":"adopt-cats-six-months-and-older-in-kent-for-free-this-month","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/news\/adopt-cats-six-months-and-older-in-kent-for-free-this-month\/","title":{"rendered":"Adopt cats six months and older in Kent for free this month"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><p>There are no tricks, just treats for prospective pet owners at Regional Animal Services of King County this month in Kent.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>From now through Oct. 31, animal services is waiving the adoption fee for cats six months and older.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\u201cYou can\u2019t put a price on love, and that\u2019s really true at Regional Animal Services this month,\u201d said Gene Mueller, manager of the Kent facility. \u201cIf you\u2019ve been thinking about adopting a cat, this is a great time to do it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>People can visit the Pet Adoption Center, 21615 64th Ave. S. in Kent. Hours are 3-6 p.m. Monday, noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday-Friday, and noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>People looking to adopt also can view available pets at <a title=\"pets\" href=\"http:\/\/www.kingcounty.gov\/safety\/regionalAnimalServices\/AdoptaPet.aspx\" target=\"_self\">www.kingcounty.gov\/pets<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>The adoption fee for cats older than six months is normally $55. The fee for kittens (younger than six months) will remain at $100. All cats and kittens from animal services are spayed or neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and have tested negative for feline leukemia.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Adopters also receive a starter bag of Hill\u2019s Science Diet food for their new pet, as well as a certificate for a free veterinary wellness exam, courtesy of the Seattle\/King County Veterinary Medical Association.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\u201cWe\u2019ve set a goal of placing 200 cats and kittens in new homes in October with this special \u2018no-fee\u2019 event,\u201d Mueller said. \u201cNo matter the type, size, color, or personality, we probably have the cat you\u2019re looking for.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Cats aren\u2019t the only focus at animal services in October. This month is also national Adopt a Shelter Dog Month. Adoption fees for adult dogs and puppies range from $100 to $250, depending on the animal.
