Local veterans gathered for the American Legion District 11 Washington State Spring Conference at the American Legion Hall in Kent on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Those who attended were, from left: Gary W. Roach, department commander, the American Legion Department of Washington; Chriss R. Moen, American Legion member Post 15, Kent; Debi Lovelace, American Legion member Post 15; Ken Lee, Western Region national vice commander of the American Legion and national executive committee member, Department of Washington; Robert “Bob” Clark, commander, Sons of the American Legion Detachment of Washington State and life member and 10th District vice commander, the American Legion.<\/p>\n

Among the topics discussed were: Evergreen Boys and Girls State; children and youth issues; Boys and Girls Scouts; and an oratorical contest for juniors in high schools for scholarships.<\/p>\n

The American Legion sponsors and supports these programs for youth in their communities.<\/p>\n

District 11 of the American Legion represents 14 American Legion Posts in King County.<\/p>\n
