Sound Cities Association (SCA)<\/a> is the 2019 Organization of the Year as selected by the Municipal League of King County.<\/p>\nEach year the Muni League Civic Awards recognize the accomplishments of those who make outstanding contributions to the community and to better government. The Organization of the Year award is given annually to the organization that has made the most outstanding contribution to the community.<\/p>\n
The Mission of the Municipal League is to promote good government that is open, effective and accountable in order to improve the caliber of public officials and the quality of public decisions and to assist our community to identify and efficiently solve its problems and reach its goals through active and broad-based participation of citizens in government.<\/p>\n
“This mission is very much aligned with the work of SCA, and we are honored to be recognized for our work to provide public policy solutions, and to give a strong voice to our 38 member cities and their more than one million residents,” said Deanna Dawson, executive director of the Tukwila-based Sound Cities Association.<\/p>\n
Kent Mayor Dana Ralph is vice president of the SCA Board of Directors.<\/p>\n
SCA was founded in the 1970s to help cities act locally and partner regionally to create vital, livable communities through advocacy, education, leadership, mutual support and networking, according to the SCA website.<\/p>\n
SCA will be honored at the Municipal League’s 60th Annual Civic Awards on May 9 at the Renaissance Hotel in Seattle.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
