Seattle Seahawks tight end Will Dissly and Blitz made a surprise visit to the Magana family at their Kent apartment complex Thursday morning.

It was all part of a special bedroom makeover event for the Maganas.

The Seahawks have partnered with Monster Jam to support Mercy Housing Northwest, an organization that offers affordable housing for families and seniors. Mercy Housing Northwest owns and operates 54 properties throughout Washington and Idaho, providing more than 5,000 economically poor families and seniors a place to call home at below-market rent since 1991.

Beyond housing, Mercy Housing Northwest provides onsite resident services that focus on five key program areas –housing stability, health and wellness, community engagement, education and financial well-being.

Lucy Magana and her family have been Mercy Housing residents for just over nine years. Her sons are active in Mercy Housing programs offered onsite, such as out-of-school-time programming and kindergarten readiness, and the eldest boys give back to their community by volunteering and mentoring youth in the neighborhood.

The Seahawks recently have partnered with Mercy Housing to raise funds for families experiencing homelessness and promote awareness for Seattle’s new Mount Baker Family Housing & Resource Center, which is expected to open in early 2020. Late Seahawks owner and philanthropist Paul Allen donated $30 million to fund the center’s development and construction.
