The 11th annual Kent International Festival has a new date – May 18.

The festival showcases the region’s ethnic dance, musical performances, spectacular native attire, cultural booths and authentic cuisine at the accesso ShoWare Center, 625 W. James St.

Hundreds of volunteers and performers will come together for the celebration that features three entertainment stages, cultural booths representing various local community groups and a large food court serving authentic dishes from around the world.

In response to the city’s growing diversity, a planning committee of volunteers along with local organizations, businesses and city government got together to plan the celebration and learn from one another. The festival showcases the region’s multicultural dances, musical performances, spectacular native attire and delicious authentic cuisine.

Kent was ranked the 10th most diverse city in the country by a recent report by WalletHub. The report compared more than 500 of the largest U.S. cities across multiple key indicators of ethnic diversity. The four main diversity indicators examined by the study were ethnicity, race, language and birthplace.
