The city of Kent is accepting applications to fill vacant or expiring positions on its Lodging Tax Advisory Committee (LTAC).

The LTAC is an advisory group that makes recommendations to the mayor and City Council on activities to be funded by lodging tax revenues via a fund created through a four percent state tax on hotel, motel or bed and breakfast stays. These funds can be used to support projects to promote business or leisure travel, for event operations and for marketing Kent as a great place to do business.

In 2018, the committee awarded more than $500,000 in lodging tax revenue grants to support local projects and events, as well as marketing services to promote Kent across the Pacific Northwest.

Committee members review grant applications and recommend award allocations to the City Council, review the success of those completed events or programs, review proposals from marketing consultants and propose changes to the marketing programs.

The committee comprises one city council member, four representatives who collect lodging tax and four representatives involved in organizations eligible to receive lodging tax grants. LTAC members serve as volunteers for three-year terms. Meetings are held on a biannually, or on as-needed basis.

Interested parties are asked to submit applications online at KentWA.gov/LTAC. Applications are due Wednesday, April 10 at 5 p.m.
