Q:<\/strong> What is your favorite subject in school?<\/p>\n A:<\/strong> Chemistry.<\/p>\n Q:<\/strong> What other activities do you participate in?<\/p>\n A:<\/strong> Soccer and music.<\/p>\n Q:<\/strong> Person who has helped you succeed the most?<\/p>\n A:<\/strong> My dad, John.<\/p>\n Q:<\/strong> Do you have a pre- or postgame tradition? What is it?<\/p>\n A:<\/strong> No shin guards in warm-up. I put them on right before the game.<\/p>\n From the Sideline<\/strong><\/p>\n “Santiago is a very skilled soccer player who plays for the benefit of the team. He doesn’t seek glory for himself. He is an awesome kid who does great in the classroom. His cumulative GPA is 3.739.” – Coach Brian Gabert<\/p>\n ====<\/p>\n Kent-Meridian High School’s Trieu Nguyen, senior, judo, is the Kent Reporter’s Female Athlete of the Week.<\/p>\n Q:<\/strong> What is your favorite subject in school?<\/p>\n A:<\/strong> Math, pre-calculus.<\/p>\n Q:<\/strong> What other activities do you participate in?<\/p>\n A:<\/strong> Video production and making videos.<\/p>\n Q:<\/strong> Person who has helped you succeed the most?<\/p>\n A:<\/strong> My friends and teammates in judo.<\/p>\n Q:<\/strong> Do you have a pre- or post-game tradition? What is it?<\/p>\n A:<\/strong> Before, I sit down, think and prepare mentally.<\/p>\n From the Sideline <\/strong><\/p>\n “Trieu is a modest but tenacious student-athlete. Her hard work and dedication are seen on and off the mat. She maintains great academic grades (cumulative GPA is 3.66) while staying involved with work, family, friends and other school activities. Trieu’s hard work on the mat has led her to dominate her weight category with advanced, swift foot-sweeps for her level and big hip throws. Trieu upholds the Kent schools’ judo value of ‘citizens over champions’ with her kindness and willingness to always offer help to new and old teammates alike.
