Kent schools will be closed once again on Thursday, Feb. 14.<\/p>\n
Due to continued slush and ice on our roadways, power outages and maintenance needs caused by the recent winter storms, Kent School District will be closed, according to the district’s website. The Central Administrative Office, 12033 SE 256th St., is open. All activities are canceled, and there is no out of district transportation.<\/p>\n
Schools also were closed Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday because of the snowstorms. Schools are closed next week for mid-winter break.<\/p>\n
Here is the district’s statement:<\/p>\n
Our dedicated Maintenance and Custodial Staff continue to attend to our buildings and maintenance issues brought on by the storm, including clearing snow, slush and debris from sidewalks, bus stops and parking lots to ensure all buildings are safe for reentry. While many areas in our large geographically diverse district are clear, many are not.<\/em><\/p>\n Opening some and not all of our schools is not an option at this time due to both the readiness level of each school for welcoming back students and staff and because we cannot have our 42 schools on different school calendars.
