Schools remained closed and city services delayed or disrupted from the fixed freeze of a winter storm that brought a thick blanket of snow, strong wind and troublesome ice to Kent and the Green River Valley.

The snow and ice that hit the area early Monday decided to stick around as low temperatures plummeted well below freezing Tuesday.

The storm has disrupted the routine workday, messed up roads, snarled traffic and canceled events.

For the second day, Kent schools were closed.

Daytime and evening classes Tuesday were cancelled on Green River College campuses in Auburn and Kent, and also at Highline College in Des Moines.

There is no garbage, recycle or yard waste collection Tuesday.
