Behind the grace of Lizzie McKnight and the power of Lauren Briggs and their freestyle relay teams, the Kentridge girls finished eighth at the West Central District championships at the Curtis Aquatic Center in University Place last Saturday.<\/p>\n
The Chargers compiled 123.5 points. Curtis ran off with the team title.<\/p>\n
Top finishers and fast-time qualifiers advanced to the 4A state swim and dive meet at the King County Aquatics Center in Federal Way on Nov. 9-10.<\/p>\n
McKnight, a junior, took second in the 1-meter diving finals with a score of 352.75.<\/p>\n
Briggs, a sophomore, delivered a pair of fourth-place finishes in the 200-yard individual medley (2 minutes, 15.28 seconds) and 100 freestyle (54.74).<\/p>\n
Briggs also anchored two relay teams to strong finishes. She joined Jaden Keatts, Haley DePriest and Bridget Cleary to take fifth in the 400 freestyle relay (3:48.07). The same foursome was sixth earlier in the 200 freestyle relay (1:43.86).<\/p>\n
For Kentwood, senior Annelise Hed was eighth in the 50 freestyle (25.71).<\/p>\n
