The Everett Silvertips defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 2-1 in overtime Friday night at Angel of the Winds Arena.<\/p>\n
Goalie Cole Schwebius, in his first career start, made 39 saves on 41 shots and gave the T-Birds (2-1-1-0) a chance to win. Schwebius, from Kelowna, British Columbia, was the T-Birds’ 10th-round pick in the 2016 Bantam Draft.<\/p>\n
Everett (3-2-0-0) took a 1-0 lead on Bryce Kindopp’s power-play goal at 10:45 of the third period. Connor Dewar and Riley Sutter had the assists.<\/p>\n
Everett’s Sean Richards was called for a checking to the head major while the Silvertips were on a power play. After 19 seconds of four-on-four play, the T-Birds had a power play for 4:41.<\/p>\n
Dillon Hamaliuk tied the game 1-1 a second after the five-minute major penalty ended.<\/p>\n
Hamaliuk came out of the right corner and powered to the net, beating Everett goalie Dustin Wolf with a shot over the right pad for his fourth goal in as many games. Noah Philp and Jake Lee had the assists.<\/p>\n
Dewar won the game 17 seconds into overtime off an assist from Kindopp.<\/p>\n
Wolf had 16 saves on 17 shots.<\/p>\n
