Mayor Dana Ralph and city of Kent employees delivered dozens of boxes of school supplies, 40 backpacks and a check for $1,040 to Kent-Meridian High School on Tuesday.

The city’s Giving Campaign Committee led the effort in which employees from all city departments contributed to the back-to-school drive.

City employees selected Kent-Meridian as the recipient because high schools are often left out of back-to-school drives, and many students at K-M are in need of supplies.

“I am so proud of our city employees who came together and collected needed school supplies for KM students,” Ralph said. “I was happy to help deliver backpacks, notebooks, calculators and other supplies, along with a check to buy whatever else is needed. As students return to school, it is important they have the supplies they need to make their year successful.”
