{"id":36255,"date":"2018-08-14T11:40:00","date_gmt":"2018-08-14T18:40:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/news\/lanes-to-close-for-kents-east-valley-highway-project\/"},"modified":"2018-08-14T11:44:12","modified_gmt":"2018-08-14T18:44:12","slug":"lanes-to-close-for-kents-east-valley-highway-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kentreporter.com\/news\/lanes-to-close-for-kents-east-valley-highway-project\/","title":{"rendered":"Lanes to close for Kent&#8217;s East Valley Highway project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kent&rsquo;s<a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/qogsVpddAr92\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"map\"> East Valley Highway (aka 84th Avenue South)<\/a> will be reduced to one lane in each direction between South 196th Street and South 180th Street for road construction from Aug. 15 through Nov. 30.<\/p>\n<p>Northbound lanes will be reduced to one lane from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Southbound lanes will go to one lane from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Drivers can expect delays and are asked by city officials to use alternate routes when possible. Traffic control will be in place.<\/p>\n<p>Kent-based Scarsella Bros. Inc., will install a new asphalt surface, ADA compliant curb ramps, concrete approaches to the railroad crossing near South 188th Street, new vehicle detection systems and new channelization.<\/p>\n<p>The City Council approved Scarsella&rsquo;s low bid of $2.2 million for the project. The city will pay for the project out of its business and occupation tax fund.
