The Kent Downtown Partnership (KDP) – in partnership with the Washington State Main Street Program and the National Main Street organization – is participating in a city-wide survey and as a focus group.

The purpose of the survey is to help the KDP’s board set short and long-term goals for the future of the downtown.

“We may think we know what you want but until we hear from you, we may be going in a direction that the majority of you do not want us to go,” said Barbara Smith, KDP executive director. “The purpose of the focus group is to give you an opportunity to share your thoughts and ideas as well as here what some of your peers have to say about downtown Kent.”

A representative from the Washington and National Main Street programs will act as facilitators in working with the KDP to do an exercise called “Refresh.”

“This is a time for us to take a fresh look at what we are doing and what our business and public would like us to focus on,” Smith added. “Once we have the input from the public, we can then revisit our current goals and make adjustments as needed. “
