For the Reporter<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/p>\n Congressman Adam Smith (D-WA, District 9) visited Kent School District last Thursday to take a closer look at award-winning iGrad, its cutting-edge youth re-engagement program.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n “This is an important program that utilizes critical partnerships to re-engage former students who want the opportunity to determine their future,” Smith said.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n iGrad has partnerships with Green River Community College and others to provide students with high school diplomas, associate’s degrees and technical certificates. As a Kent School District program, there is no charge to students to complete these credentials.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n “iGrad is a benefit to the entire state, as some students come from far outside the district to complete their education,” Superintendent Edward Lee Vargas said. “Congressman Smith’s interest and visit mean a great deal to us.
