A 28-year-old Kent man suffered a gunshot wound to the leg during a confrontation at about 3:50 p.m. Aug. 18 in the driveway of the Rock Creek Apartments, 23240 88th Ave. S.<\/p>\n
The gunman remains at large, according to a Kent Police media release. The gunman is described as a black man, ages 20 to 25. He fled the scene driving a late model Chevrolet sedan, possibly champagne or purple colored.<\/p>\n
Several people called 911 to report hearing gunshots near the apartment complex.<\/p>\n
Police and Kent firefighters arrived to find the 28-year-old man in the driveway to the apartments. Paramedics treated the man and transported him to an undisclosed hospital.<\/p>\n
Witnesses told police that the victim was driving into the parking lot in a sport utility vehicle when a passenger car exiting the same driveway crossed into the path of the SUV, forcing it to stop.<\/p>\n
The driver of the car leaned out an open window and fired several rounds into the driver’s side of the SUV. The gunman exited the car momentarily while he continued to fire his gun. He then returned to the car and drove away.<\/p>\n
Police have interviewed witnesses to try to figure out what led to the confrontation and any possible connection between the men.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis sort of incident is highly unusual and we\u2019re grateful that the severity of injuries was not greater,” said Kent Police Sgt. Tim Lontz.<\/p>\n
