A Kent woman has a new, healthy smile, thanks to a generous gift from local surgeons.

India Coleman, 31, was chosen out of a pool of 400 local applicants to receive the procedure through Pacific Northwest Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons’ (PNWOMS) Second Chance program. The treatment, which typically costs upwards of $50,000, was free for Coleman.

Second Chance, a community outreach program offered by PNWOMS, provided a deserving member of the community with a full-arch restoration and dental implant procedure to restore broken or missing teeth.

Coleman shared her story of living with a condition called orthogenasis dental imperfecta. Her teeth were in extremely poor condition to where they were either all worn down, broken or missing. Before being selected for the Second Chance program, she was on multiple antibiotics and took pain relievers just to be able to eat food without feeling pain.

She had been living with temporary teeth since her first surgery in 2016. Fully healed, Coleman received the final step in her full-arch restoration treatment on Tuesday, June 5, when surgeons inserted a permanent set of teeth to complete her smile makeover.
