School and police officials placed Kentwood High in Covington on a 22-minute lockdown Monday morning as part of an investigation into a “vague threat” on social media.

All students and staff are safe, according to a school district website post by Timothy Kovich, safety services supervisor for the district.

“This (Monday) morning our team was informed of a vague threat aimed at Kent School District on social media,” according to the district website post. “Our staff is working in cooperation with the Kent Police Department to investigate this threat. The threat was non-specific and did not name specific schools or individuals. The school district, in conjunction with law enforcement, began taking every preliminary precaution possible and continues to investigate this posting.”

Kent Police, Covington Police and the King County Sheriff’s Office investigated the threat which led to the lockdown at Kentwood, 25800 164th Ave. SE.
