Infant and Young Toddler Story Times: 10:30 a.m. June 28. Ages newborn to 2 1\/2 with adult. Stories, songs and fun. Play time follows.<\/p>\n
Kaleidoscope Play & Learn-Spanish: 10:30 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. June 8, 15, 22 and 29. Newborn to age 5 with caregiver. Have fun singing songs, telling stories, reading books, creating art and playing. Play & Learn is in English, and the facilitator is bilingual in English and Spanish. <\/p>\n
Summer Reading Kickoff: 1 p.m. June 9. Presented by Gansango Music & Dance Company and the Kent Library staff. All ages welcome.<\/p>\n
Kid Movie of the Month: 4 p.m. June 22. “Top Story” (1995). All ages welcome, ages 8 and younger with adult. Rated G. 81 minutes.<\/p>\n
Let’s Rock! Family Story Time: 3 p.m. June 27. All ages welcome, ages 6 and younger with adult. Stories, songs and fun. Presented by Two of a Kind. Family program, all ages welcome. Listen to musical sounds found in the natural world and discover how to make music with your voices and bodies. Experience instruments from diverse cultures, including the West African djembe and the Latin American Cajon.<\/p>\n
TWEENS & TEENS<\/p>\n
Between Time: 2 p.m. June 6, 13 and 20. Ages 9 to 19. Drop in between school and home to meet friends, play games, discover new books and music, study or try different craft or tech activities each session.<\/p>\n
Study Zone: 1:30-3:30 p.m. Sundays through June 10; 3:30 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays through June 13. Grades K-12. Need a place to study or get homework help? Drop in any time during Study Zone hours to get assistance from volunteer tutors. Study Zone Summer Sessions will begin July 11.<\/p>\n
History of EDM (Electronic Dance Music): 3 p.m. June 6. Presented by Jason Price (aka Doctor J). Ages 11 to 20. Do you know the origins of Electronic Dance Music, where the popular genre came from, and the philosophical ideology behind dance music culture? Come learn more about this dance phenomenon.<\/p>\n
Button Up! Make Custom Pinback Buttons: 2 p.m. June 13. Ages 9 to 19. Make it. Pin it. Rock it. Button it! Come and design your own button(s) for your shirt, jacket, backpack or whatever! Materials will be provided, but participants may bring their own graphics or use our papers and media to create on the spot.<\/p>\n
Wizarding Wands Workshop: 2 p.m. June 20. Ages 9 to 19. Make your own Wizarding World Wand. Design it yourself from our select magical materials, or get enchanting advice from senior wizards.<\/p>\n

Do-It-Yourself, Quilled Greeting Card Workshop: 1-2:30 p.m. June 10. Presented by paper craft expert Emily Mallory. Ages 10 and older. Come make a simple yet perfect paper crafted card for Father’s Day, graduation or another event using quilling techniques. All supplies provided. Please register.<\/p>\n

Kent Repair Time: 3-6 p.m. June 12. Brought to you by the King County EcoConsumer program. Bring your small household items, including clothing, and our experienced all-purpose fixers and sewing fixers will try to repair or help you fix them. There are no guarantees an item can be fixed, or that attempts to fix won’t break it even more. Please bring items small enough to be carried in easily by one person. Do not bring items that are leaking, dangerous, contain gasoline, or have a strong odor. You must be present during the repair.<\/p>\n
Sign up for ORCA LIFT & Basic Food: 1:30-3:30 p.m. June 18. Drop in to register for ORCA LIFT (reduced transit fare for ages 19 and up) and Basic Food. Basic Food is what Washington calls the USDA’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), which helps people make ends meet by providing monthly food benefits. Individuals and families may apply. Check orcalift.com or call King County Public Health at 1-800-756-5437 to see if you qualify. Bring ID and income verification documents. 2018 Summer Dance Series – Rhythms of India: 2:30-3:30 p.m. June 23. The Kent Library invites you to sign up for our Summer Reading Program And get your dance on at Town Square Plaza this summer. This is an outdoors event. In case of rain, the event will be held at the Kent Library. Clothing that moves and a water bottle recommended.<\/p>\n
How to Taste with Author and Chef Becky Selengut: 7 p.m. June 26. Discover the underlying principles of taste and take a deep dive into salt, acid, bitter, sweet, fat aromatics, texture and more. Learn how temperature, color, alcohol and more impact the enjoyment of homemade dishes. Becky will lead us through a few taste experiments and take you through the breakdown of the current science on taste.<\/p>\n
